Program

“Jens Jensen: Master of Shadow, Water and Stone”
– Karen Marzonie, Landscape Manager at the Henry Ford Estate. Karen’s presentation will focus on the life of landscape architect, Jens Jensen, and his relationship with the Ford family that led to his design commissions for Greenfield Village, Henry Ford Hospital, and The Dearborn Inn, as well as several private residences belonging to the Fords. Jens Jensen became known as one of 20th Century's leading landscape architects. The New York Times called him the "Dean of American Landscape Architecture" in 1951. Jensen focused on a regionally-based approach to design and dovetailed with broader land conservation efforts. The style of design he advocated became known as "Prairie Style".
